The last home game of the season had finally came, a night to celebrate the Senior Class and their four years of wearing an Eagles’ jersey. Seven seniors will graduate this year from the team, including Gabe Hartwig, Joe Roach, Newey Spencer, Bailey Ramesh, Carson Cox, Kory Droes, and Lukas Sergent.

The Eagles put twelve goals up on the scoreboard before time had expired against Medford. Seven goals were scored in the first period, making the game go into running time within the first fourteen minutes.

Bailey Ramesh was the first to put a goal up on the board off of a rebound less than a minute into the game, assisted by his starting lineup counterparts Colton Raymond and Joe Roach. Assistant captain Colton Raymond tipped the puck in past Carter Jamieson off of a pass from Ramesh to put the home team up 2-0.

Just nineteen seconds later, Kory Droes ripped the puck from the blue line to put the puck into the back of the net, unassisted. He did it again six minutes later with help from his linemates Joe Maillette and Carson Cox.

Cody Jantzen fired the puck from the point with Jack Brown tipping the goal in, the fifth goal of the night. Joe Roach went top-shelf with an assist from Bailey Ramesh, sending the game into running time. Team captain Carson Cox finished off the period with an unassisted goal right in front of the net.

Ramesh was sent to the box early in the second period for interference, followed by a Medford interference penalty halfway into the period, but both teams were able to kill off the penalties. Newey Spencer went backhanded for a goal at the 10:27 mark, followed by an unassisted goal top-shelf to give the Eagles a 9-0 lead.

In the last three minutes of the period, freshman Bobby Schilling got his first ever varsity goal, and the crowd was roaring with excitement. Jacob Czarapata was assessed a five minute major penalty for boarding that would roll over to the third period.

Seven minutes had expired before the scoreboard saw some action, although it was for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty against Joe Roach, not a goal for either team. Conor Riley tallied the eleventh goal for the Eagles, assisted by Cody Jantzen.

Only thirty six seconds were left on the clock when coincidental roughing minors were assessed to Joe Roach and Jacob Kadlecek, along with an additional cross-checking penalty going to Jack Schafer. With Pines on the power play and less than a minute remaining, head coach Charlie DePuydt sent all of his seniors out on the ice for the last time. Newey Spencer capitalized on the advantage, scoring the twelfth and final goal of the night, awarding him a hat-trick for the game.

Medford’s Carter Jamieson saved 69 of his 81 shots, while Pines’ Gabe Hartwig saved all 17 shots against him, earning Hartwig his fifth shutout of the season. The Eagles have one last regular season game in Lakeland next Thursday, February 12th, before heading into the post season playoffs.
