#1 Superior Spartans take on #3 Central Wisconsin Storm

In the latest WiPH Top Six rankings, Superior came in at #1 and Central Wisconsin was at #3. Central Wisconsin defeated the Fusion (currently at #2) in the Culver's Cup Semifinals to advance to the championship game. The Culver's championship game featured numerous whistles to place players in the sin bin, but there was still one heck of a hockey game being played.

The opening face-off was only 28 seconds prior to the first goal. Madelyn Bachand passed the puck to Autumn Cooper. Cooper skated deep and dropped the puck back to Gabryel Olson who slammed the puck between the post and the Storm's Calmes putting the Spartans up 1-0. The Storm's Gabi Heuser tied the game at 1 with a shot from the high slot to beat Superior's Nault for the goal at 2:04 of the first. Superior regained the lead as Autumn Cooper scored with an assist from Gabryel Olson at 3:05 of the first period. The period concluded with Superior leading 2-0.

Central Wisconsin tied the game in the second period by taking advantage of a 5 on 3 power play. Abigail Dhein scored at 13:33 with Tristan Wicklund and Taylor Freidel assisting on the play. At the end of two periods, the game was tied at 2.

Superior scored the game winning goal at 7:46 of the third period. Emma Ferg passed the puck up to Autumn Cooper. Madi DePuydt pressured Cooper as she skated into the zone. Cooper was able to get off her wrist shot and beat Calmes over her right shoulder for the goal. Superior claimed a 3-2 victory.
