Last year the Bay Area Ice Bears defeated the Hayward Hurricanes 4-1 to take home the WiPH Holiday Classic in Fond du Lac. This year they traveled to Eau Claire and worked their way to the championship game for a chance to repeat. They defeated the CFM Sabres in their first game 8-0. Their second game was a repeat of last year's final against the Hurricanes and the final score was 4-3 to advance to the championship. The ECA Stars advanced to the championship game with a first round win over the Rock County Fury 4-1. The Stars defeated Black River Falls 4-3 in the second round to get to the championship game.

Bay Area opened the scoring at 9:10 of the first, when Addison Dahl assisted on Kristin Kruse's goal. Abby Mommaerts scored at 11:10 with Tiana Stindt and Faye Brunke assisting to give the Ice Bears a 2-0 advantage. Bay Area closed out the first period with a goal by Hannah Von Haden assisted by Rachael Beeck at 13:34. Ice Bear led 3-0 at the end of one.

Addison Dahl bumped the Ice Bears lead to 4 with an assist from Emily Bill at 6:04 of the second. A power play goal by Jillian Stephenson assisted by Aubee Wolle and Molly Wright got the ECA Stars in the scoring column at 6:48 of the second period. Hannah Von Haden picked up her second goal with an assist from Brynn Osbahr to put the Ice Bears up 5-1 with 5:16 remaining in the second period. Bay Area collected their sixth goal at 12:27 in the second on a Abby Mommaerts second goal with Julianne Bradford assisting. The ECA Stars trailed 6-1 at the end of two.

The lone goal of the third period came with 1:03 left in regulation. Bay Area's Faye Brunke scored with Olympia Simons and Rachael Beeck assisting. Bay Area wins their second straight WiPH Holiday Classic.

The third place game saw the Hayward Hurricanes sporting their Candy Cane jerseys to take on the Black River Falls Tigers. The Hurricanes did not allow more than 6 shots on their goaltender, Greta Woelber, in any period this game. Woelber faced 15 shots through 3 periods. The Black River Falls goaltender, Sydney Magnuson, saw 12 shots in the first and 17 shots in each of the final two periods for a total of 46 shots.

The first period saw the Hurricanes take the lead at 6:17 on a goal by Reese Sheehan with Brooke Brennan and Abby Elliott assisting. Black River Falls tied the game at one on an unassisted power play goal by Zowie Hunter with 4:16 remaining in the period. The game was tied at 1 at the end of one.

Colby Sprenger scored a power play goal with an assist from Harper Sheehan at 4:48 of the second period. Hayward Co-op led 2-1 at the end of two.

Both teams moved the puck in the third. The Hurricanes increased their lead to two, when Reese Duncan scored with Olvia Webster and Brooklyn Griffiths being credited with assists at 14:21 of the third. Hayward Co-op closed out the scoring with a power play goal by Brooke Brennan assisted by Abby Elliott and Colby Sprenger with 1:51 remaining in regulation. The Hurricanes won 4-1.

Many of us have heard the phrase "Rubbin' is Racing", but the Fox Cities Stars and Warbirds proved that even though checking is not permitted in girl's hockey rubbin' is. Both teams were doing an excellent job from the opening period of rubbin' a player against the boards and pinning their stick to get the puck.

The first period was fairly quiet. The Stars picked up a couple of minor penalties and killed them off. The Warbirds picked up a penalty that would carry over into the second period. Each team placed 5 shots on goal and the game remained scoreless.

The intensity picked up a bit in period two and the sin bin was one of the beneficiaries. The Stars were accessed 4 minor penalties throughout the period, while the Warbirds collected 2 minors. Fox Cites was able to break through on the scoreboard, when Evie Mursau skated uncontested from the corner for an unassisted goal at 3:51 of the period. The Warbirds' Allsion Waara tied the game with a power play goal assisted by Sydriha Retzlaff at 5:48 of the second. The Warbirds took the lead at 9:01 on an unassisted goal by Allison Waara. Fox Cities took advantage of a power play opportunity, when Evie Mursau and Maleiyah Streck assisted on Margaret Thomas' goal at 13:10 of the period. The game was tied at 2 at the end of two periods.

Sydriha Retzlaff gave the Warbirds the lead in the third period with an assist from Callie Rottman at 5:37. The Stars' Margaret Thomas tied the game at 3 with an unassisted goal at 6:14 of the third. The Stars took the lead at 6:01 remaining in regulation on an unassisted goal by Peyton Hewitt. The Warbirds trailing by 1 took a gamble and pulled their goalie with 4:03 remaining in the game after the Stars picked up a 2 minute minor. The Warbirds pressured the 6 on 4 opportunity, but Fox Cities' Margaret Thomas scored a short-handed goal on the empty net with 2:18 on the clock. Fox Cities won 5-3.

The Sabres came into the WiPH Holiday Classic having won 7 of their last 8 games, while the Fury came into the weekend on a 7 game winning streak. However, the first two games of the tournament were not what either team was hoping for. Both teams lost their first two games and only scored 1 goal. They arrived Saturday morning looking for redemption.

The first period was uneventful except for Rock County picking up two penalties. The Fury placed 11 shots on goal, while the Sabres placed 9 on net. The second period was almost a duplicate of the first, but this time each team had one penalty. Kasandra Herr made 10 saves for a two period total of 21 for CFM. Jillian Traver had a two period total of 22, after stopping 13 shots in  the second period for the Fury.

The third period saw each team collect another penalty, but still no one found the back of the net. Traver made 15 saves in the third, while Herr made 11 saves. This brought on overtime. The Sabres' Tessa Leisses scored at 2:51 of the overtime period with an assist from Kinley Laux giving CFM a 1-0  win.
