The regional round upsets did not pass through to the sectional round.

All four #1 seeds and three of the four #2 seeds advance to the sectional finals in the girls bracket.

Going into the sectional semi-final the St Croix Valley Fusion had allowed four goals in a game once this season (Dec. 13 vs Fox Cities), and three goals in a game just twice (Dec. 28 vs Metro Lynx, Jan. 27 vs North St Paul/Tartan). They had also beaten the Hudson Raiders 3-2 and 4-1. So of course it stands to reason that last night the Raiders scored six goals on 25 shots and ran away with a 6-1 win.

The Eau Claire Area Stars and Hayward Hurricanes had met twice already this season, with Eau Claire Area carrying 1-0 and 3-0 wins. True to form, the Stars held the Hurricanes scoreless and secured a 1-0 win to advance to the sectional final.

The Stars and Raiders will meet in the sectional final at noon on Saturday at the Somerset Civic Center. In two previous meetings this season the teams split. Hudson took the first meeting 4-3, and Eau Claire Area took the second 4-1.

After playing in the state tournament in 2007 and 2008, Northland Pines has been stymied by the Central Wisconsin Storm ever since, with the Storm securing every sectional crown since 2009. They stayed true to form again this year with the Storm beating the Eagles 7-1. You've got to feel for the Eagles with an enrollment of 444 students taking on the combined forces of Wausau East, Wausau West, DC Everest, Merrill and Mosinee.

The Fox Cities Stars and Bay Area Ice Bears played twice this year coming into the semi-final. The Stars won the first meeting 3-0, and the Ice Bears won the second 5-2. This time the Stars carried the day 5-1.

The Stars and Storm will face off at the Eagle River Hockey & Sports Arena on Friday at 7pm. In one previous meeting this season the Storm carried a 6-5 victory in overtime.

The Metro Lynx continued their utter domination of non-Top Six teams on Tuesday night with a 7-1 win over Black River Falls. The Lynx only losses on the year were to Cap City, Eau Claire Area, and Rock County. The seven goals against was the most Black River Falls allowed all season, which is saying something considering their schedule included games all six Top Six teams.

The Cap City Cougars entered Tuesday's game with the Icebergs having already beaten them 9-0 and 7-1 this year. The Icebergs were riding the high of their upset win over Onalaska, but the Cougars proved too strong and took a 6-1 win.

The Lynx and Cougars will play for the sectional title on Friday at 7pm at the Sun Prairie Ice Arena. In their two previous meetings the teams split. Cap City won the first 3-1. Metro Lynx won the second 4-2.

Can "Score once and hang on for dear life" be a team motto? The Fury scored at 4:37 of the first and Olivia Cronin stopped all 31 shots she saw to give them the win over the University School Wildcats.

In the first meeting this season of the Arrowhead Warhawks and the Warbirds co-op the Warbirds took a 2-1 win despite being held to 18 shots. The Warbirds turned up their offense in this second meeting by putting 31 shots on net, but it was barely enough in their 1-0 win.

The Rock County Fury and Warbirds will face off at the Fond du Lac Blue Line Family Ice Center on Friday at 7:30 pm. In their only previous meeting Rock County won 3-1.
