Battle Between Wildcats and Lynx to Open Season

Friday, November 17

It's extremely hard for me to believe, but opening games are just around the corner. As I stated this past summer, I will be starting my final season with Wisconsin Prep Hockey and have a goal to see all of the girl's teams live at least once this season. Wisconsin Prep Hockey doesn't start "Game of the Week" as the first games kick off, but this Friday I will be covering my first game of the year.

Friday, November 17th, the USM Wildcats will make the trek to Madison Ice Arena to take on the Metro Lynx. Dan Carey will be starting his seventh season as the Wildcats head coach during that time he has led them to an 85-46-6 record. Last season the Wildcats tied for first place in the Eastern Shores Conference regular season, but fell to the Warbirds in the conference tournament. The Wildcats won their first two games in the playoffs by defeating the Lakeshore Lightning and Warbirds. The fell to Bay Area Ice Bears in the sectional championship game. The Ice Bears went on to claim the state title.

The Metro Lynx will be led by first year head coach Carolyn McCrary. The Metro Lynx went undefeated in the Badger Conference last season. The lost their opening game of the season last year to the Wildcats with a 2-1 final. Bay Area ended the Metro Lynx's season in the state semi-finals.
