The Stars take care of the Cougars with 3-1 win.

The Fox Cities Stars controlled the pace of play, using their speed and their stick handling skills to keep the puck in the Cap City Cougars end of the ice most of the game taking a 3-1 victory in Friday’s first semi-final, and advancing to the championship game.

The Stars opened the scoring six minutes into the game with shot from the right point by Lauryn Hull. Cap Cities goalie Jenna Jager stopped the shot, but the rebound went right to Madelynn Jablonski on the back door who had an easy shot in.

Fox Cities put on a passing clinic leading to their second goal of the period. Victoria Nelson passed the puck from the top of the left circle to Jabonski over on the right side. Jablonski quickly passed it back to left, to Annika Horman at the bottom of the circle. Horman shot before Jager could get back across.

Jager recorded 6 saves in the first period, while Stars goalie Hattie Berndt stopped the only 3 shots thrown at her.

Cougars got on the board with a shot from inside the blue line by Mackenzie Rosin that was tipped on its way to the net with a terrific waist-high stick by Olivia Thompson.

Nelson passed to Morgan Treml who was all alone in the right face off circle. Treml skated to the face off dot and fired a shot that beat Jager on her glove side, to put the Stars up 3-1.

Fox Cities out-shot Cap City 10-5 in the second period.

The Stars continued to limit the Cougars’ chances in the scoreless third period, out-shooting Cap City 11-5.
