Mack Keryluk Collects 2 Unassisted Goals and 2 Assists

Cardinals Outshot 37 to 25

Verona and Sun Prairie were meeting for the third time this season. They were the number 1 and 2 seeds in sectional six. The winner would be advancing to the state quarterfinals in Madison on February 28th.

The Wildcats' Mack Keryluk scored an unassisted goal at 9:54 of the first period to give Verona a 1-0 lead. Sun Prairie's Kyle Hagerman tied the game at 1 with Nick Johnson and Quinten Gross assisting on the goal. The first period concluded with the game tied at 1.

Keryluk put Verona back into the lead with a shorthanded goal at 5:18 of the second. Verona increased their lead to two at 7:20 of the period. This time it was an even strength goal by Walker Haessig with Cale Rufenacht and Kade Binger assisting. The Wildcats bumped their lead to three when Keryluk brought the puck into the zone and made a backhanded pass to Ryan Ritter. Ritter was coming in strong down the middle of the ice and took the shot from the top of the circles. The puck hit just behind the crossbar making the score 4-1. Cale Rufenacht scored a shorthanded goal, the second of the period by the Wildcats, with an assist from Mack Keryluk making the score 5-1 at the end of two periods.

Sun Prairie wasn't ready to see their season come to a conclusion yet. Carter Watters scored at 10:21 with an assist from Roger Schoenike cutting the deficit to three. The Cardinals pulled their goaltender with 1:26 remaining in regulation. Eight seconds later Sun Prairie's Nick Johnson scored with Travis Kernen and Benett Halbleib assisting on the play. However, time was not on the Cardinals side and they fell to the Wildcats 5-3.
