Kaley Manglitz four point night ends Fury march to sectional final

17 minutes.

The Onalaska bus left about that long after the game, but in the 17 minutes of the second period, Onalaska erased a one-goal deficit with three goals to take the lead and held on in the third period for a 4-3 sectional semi win over Rock County in Beloit.

The Hilltoppers senior forward Kaley Manglitz had two goals and assisted on the other two 'Toppers goals.

Rock County came out fast and furious and scored two quick goals. Alyssa Knauf scored a power play goal with help from sister Haley and Anika Einbeck. Alyssa again scored her second goal with a helper from her sister Haley for a 2-0 Fury first period lead.

Onalaska though, was able to answer and got a goal from Jaiden Groshek. The Fury ended the period up 2-1 and playing well.

Then the tide changed.

Shortly into the second period Manglitz scored a 4 on 4 goal for a tie game at two apiece.

The first lead of the game for Onalaska came on a shorthanded goal by Kiya Bronston. The lead was brief as Haley Knauf on a shorthanded goal was wide open in the slot and sniped a shot on a feed from Mya Maslonka for the tie.

Manglitz again had an answer as she picked up a turnover and scored on Fury goalie Olivia Cronin for the 4-3 lead.

The Fury had many chances in the late second period but Izzy Lassa was able to keep her team in front going into the second intermission.

The third period had Rock County taking four penalties and spending eight minutes killing them off. Still late in the third period Mya Maslonka was able to break away and get off a shot that just went over the crossbar.

The Fury dug deep and battled to the end but it was the Hilltoppers getting the 4-3 win and moving on to play the Cap City Cougars Friday night for a spot in the State tournament.

Olivia Cronin made 32 saves for the Fury, while Izzy Lassa had 29 stops.

The Fury who played a very difficult schedule ended the season with a 13-9-2 record while going undefeated in conference play and winning the Badger Conference for the second straight season.
