Waukesha took the lead and never looked back

The Janesville Bluebirds the last three years have traveled to Waukesha to play the Wings in the WIAA Section 7 Sectional only to watch their season end at Nagawaukee Ice.

Make it another.

The Waukesha Wings scored five goals in the first period, and behind the solid play of goalie Garrett Larson ended the Janesville season with a 7-0 win.

Waukesha the top seed now will play second seed Milwaukee Marquette in a rematch of last seasons sectional final.

Waukesha got things going very early. Tyler Dale scored just 1:48 in when he was able to get a wrist shot at the right circle past Janesville goalie Cody Kaas for the 1-0 lead.

Gabriel Radonski snuck a five hole shot past Kaas and not even a minute later Riley Cassada scored for a 3-0 lead with 10:55 to play in the first period essentially ending the game. Ryan Roth and Thomas Knoke finished off the five goal first period for Waukesha.

Janesville did have a couple odd man rushes during the game but not able to do a lot with them with Larson in net.

The second period saw Chad Larsen score on a breakaway to make it 6-0 and the final tally was from Garrett Wilderman in the third period for the final 7-0 score.

Shots were 30-21 with Waukesha holding the edge.

Saves were 23 for Cody Kaas, while Larson stopped all 21 in the win.

Janesville ends the season with a 10-13 record.
