Third period goal is the difference

The Badger Conference title on the line and senior night at Sun Prairie Ice Arena. Seniors from both teams were introduced between the first and second period.

The first period found the Fury going on the power play 3:55 into the game, when Cap City's Brynna Banuelos was called for high sticking on a face-off. The Cougars were able to kill off the penalty. Rock County's Haley Knauf was called for slashing with 1:33 left in the period. While there was a goal scored on the penalty, it wasn't by the Cougars. Cap City was pressuring in the offensive zone, when the puck was stolen by the Fury. The rush to the other end of the ice resulted in a short handed goal by Anika Einbeck with an assist from Alyssa Knauf assisting at the 15:57 mark of the first.

The second period started with the Fury finishing their penalty kill and keeping the score 1-0 in their favor. Rock County was caught with too many women on the ice with 12:28 showing on the clock. The Cougars capitalized 62 seconds later. Olivia Thompson skated the puck in deep and proceeded to go behind the Fury net. Thompson dropped the puck off for Zephryn Jager. Jager picked the puck up and wrapped it around for the power play goal. This concluded the scoring for the period and had the game tied at 1 at the end of 2 periods.

The third period was more of what was shown in the first two.The major difference was an even strength goal by the Fury. After supplying constant pressure, Sara Nerad forced the puck into the net with Mya Masionka and Olivia Combs assisting on what proved to be the game winner.
