Coulter scores 2 goals in win

The Cedarburg Bulldogs traveled Tuesday night to Janesville to play the Bluebirds in a non conference game. Outside the sleet and rain was falling making travel slippery.

But Bluebird senior Ben Coulter scored his first of two goals when he slid a rebound past Cedarburg goalie Ben Kowalewski 14 seconds into the game leading Janesville to a 5-2 Senior Night win.

The win was the fourth straight for Janesville.

Coulter got his team out to a 3-1 lead after the first period. Cedarburg did have the game tied at one apiece as Cade Knoeppel scored on the backside for the tie.

Janesville scored its second goal on a controversial play. While Tyler Edwards got the goal, the play was contested by the Bulldog bench. The Bulldog bench believed the play was offsides, but the officials upheld the goal.

Coulter finished the scoring in that period when he took the puck from the right, carried it across the crease and shot it to the reverse side of the play for the 3-1 lead.

Shots in that period were 14-5 Janesville holding the edge.

The second period between the two teams couldn't get anything going thru the period. Shots in that period were in favor of Janesville 8-3.

Janesville seemed to pretty much put the away early in the third period. Jackson Lyons scored on a shot with about three and a half minutes gone in the period. Cooper Iverson scored with 1:02 left to finish off the Janesville scoring.

However Cedarburg continued to play hard and it paid off when with just a few seconds left in the game Cade Knoeppel gathered up a puck in the neutral zone and deked the Janesville goalie for Cedarburg's last goal with less than one second left in the game for the final 5-2 score.

Cade Knoeppel had both the Bulldog goals in the game. For Janesville Tyler Edwards also had a three point game.

For the goalies Janesville Netminder Cody Kaas had 16 saves, while Cedarburg goalie Ben Kowalewski finished up with almost twice as many saves as he finished the game with 30 saves.
