The Storm Take The Win, But The Star is Noah Sanger

Central Wisconsin Spreads the Wealth

Over the years, we've all heard how sports helps to build character. However, there are many times we're reminded many players have character and are models many of us can aspire to emulate even though they are younger. One such player is Ava Jambor of the Metro Lynx.

Ava, a sophomore, organized an event to take place in conjunction with their hockey game against the Central Wisconsin Storm. The event was to help raise money for Noah Sanger and to raise awareness for the fight against leukemia. If judging by the emotions of the people attending, it was a success.

After the pregame activities, there was a WIAA girls hockey game to be played.

The Storm's Audrey Ladewig scored an unassisted goal to give her team the lead at 2:03 of the first period. Ladewig fired a centering pass from behind the net. The puck hit off a stick of a Lynx defender and slid into the goal giving the Storm a 1-0 lead. Play continued with both teams moving the puck, but Central Wisconsin was able to increase their lead to 2 with 21 seconds left in the first. Trinity Foster centered a pass from the goaltender's left to Kassidy Oliva. Oliva tipped the puck over the goalie's right shoulder for the goal. Gwen Parker finished the period with 17 saves for the Lynx. The Storm's Sydney Weiland had 6 saves.

Central Wisconsin's Kiley Hahner made a centering pass to Eden Gruber. Gruber took a hard shot, which deflected off Lynx defender's stick to go high into the net at 4:12 of the second increasing the Storm lead to 3. Kassidy Oliva and Logan Crawford worked together for the next Storm goal. Crawford and Oliva beat a Lynx defender in the neutral zone giving them an open path to Parker. Crawford made the cross-ice pass to Oliva near the top of the face-off circles forcing Parker to slide to her left. Oliva made the perfect pass back to Crawford. Crawford redirected the pass top shelf beating Parker for the goal. The Storm increased their lead to 4. Parker collected 22 saves in the period, while Weiland had 2 saves.

Sarah Croker completed the scoring for Central Wisconsin 9:17 of the third period with a short-handed goal. Weiland stopped 2 pucks in the period for a game total of 10. Parker picked up another 14 saves to finish with 53 saves.
