Fondy/Beaver Dam gets over slow start to beat Lakeshore 7-2

The Fond du Lac/Beaver Dam co-op girls hockey team ran the risk of a letdown in Saturday’s Eastern Shores Conference game vs. Lakeshore after a pair of wins over ranked opponents in their last two outings.

The level of intensity was high before Saturday’s game, but once the puck dropped, so did the Alliance’s intensity. Fondy/Beaver Dam — a 12-school co-op that also includes Waupun, Wayland and Dodgeland — didn’t wake up until the Lightning tied it at 1, but once the Alliance did, they cruised to a 7-2 victory.

“Lakeshore maybe is a little younger and inexperienced this year,” Fondy/Beaver Dam co-coach Paul Uttech said. “(They don’t have) as many strong players as they’ve had in the past. We should come out and control this game, but you can’t be casual about it.

“That’s what we did when we first stepped on to the ice.”
