Fans were barely settled in after the national anthem, before Onalaska jumped out to an early 1-0 lead over the Fox Cities Stars. Kiya Bronston took the puck into the Stars defensive zone and went top shelf, just behind the crossbar, to put the Hilltoppers on top 21 seconds into the game. Unfortunately, for Onalaska fans, the lead was short lived. Madelynn Jablonski put the puck into the net with an assist from Morgan Treml at the 37 second mark to tie the game. The Stars took the lead with 16:07 showing on the clock, when Annika Horman stuffed the puck past the skate of Izzy Lassa with Lauryn Hull and Jablonski assisting on the play. Fox Cities bumped the lead to 2 at 11:29 of the first on a pop-up goal by Alaina Schauf with an assist from McKayla Zilisch. The Stars lead 3-1 at the end of the first period.
The Stars increased their lead 4:12 into the second on an unassisted goal by Lauryn Hull. Hull picked up another goal with 10:00 minutes remaining in the second period with Jablonski and Horman assisting on the play. Kaley Manglitz took a breakaway down the center of the ice and followed her first shot, picked up the rebound putting it past Annaliease Mauel at 14:09 of the period. Fox Cities picked up their 6th goal of the game with 21.6 seconds remaining in the 2nd, when Jablonski took a rebound off the post and placed it in the net with Horman and Hull being credited with an assist.
The Hilltoppers were not going to give up on this game and Manglitz pulled them back within 2 with a goal at 1:32 of the third and Bronston assisting on the play. The Stars answered with a goal by Riley Maulick with Zilisch and Hana Sobczak assisting with 12:04 remaining. The Stars completed the scoring at 9:06 on a goal by Horman with Hull and Sarah Marvin assisting on the goal. The Stars won 8-3.
