Coulter, Joyce have three point games

Thursday night another chapter was written in the Janesville and Beloit hockey rivalry.

After a 4-3 Beloit win a couple weeks ago in Beloit, the Knights were looking for the regular season sweep over their neighbors to the North.

But Janesville's Ben Coulter and Conor Joyce made sure that was not gonna be the case.

Janesville's two top line forwards had a piece in all three goals and gave Janesville a 3-0 win Thursday Night in Beloit.

They got started early, not even two minutes in. Joyce got the first goal when a rebound came out and he shot it past Beloit goalie Aidan Wright.

In the period, Wright had 12 saves. Beloit got their first official shot on a dump-in during the final seconds of the first period.

Janesville continued the offensive play in the second period. The Bluebirds kept Beloit busy in their own zone, but Wright was able to hold the Birds off the board, keeping Beloit still in the game. But in the final minute Janesville's Coulter finally punched a rebound home for a 3-0 lead thru two periods.

Shots were 19-3 Janesville.

The third period was scoreless and Janesville held the shot advantage, 11-6.

Beloit's Wright was great in net making 40 saves on 43 shots. Janesville netminder Cody Kaas was not nearly tested as much and was perfect in the 10 shots he faced.
