Mathison, Keryluk, Horman, and Techel earn honors

Week 5

Josie Mathison, goalie from Black River Falls had a 19 save shut out in a 3-0 over Chippewa Falls-Menomonie and a 49 save shut out in a 0-0 tie with Hayward.

Black River Coach, Oak Moser, writes “Josie Mathison has started and completed every game since the start of the 2017-2018 season, finishing last year (2017-2018 season) with the WIAA Girls HS top save percentage in the state at 93.6%, with a 1.82 GAA. This season to date, Josie is at 93.9% save percentage and 2.16 GAA.

"Josie is a three-sport athlete and high honor roll student. She is a quiet leader that leads by example. Her work ethic is very strong and consistent.  She is the type of person, player and goalie that gives us a chance to compete with anyone in every game. She’s on time, she’s prepared and she creates positive outcomes for herself and her teams.”

Junior forward Mack Keryluk of Verona scored 4 goals in an 8-1 win over Beloit Memorial and 3 goals in a 4-2 win over Madison West. Keryluk has 41 points on the season and averages 2.73 points per game for the 12-1 Verona Wildcats.


Week 6

Junior forward of the Fox Cities Stars, Annika Horman, tabbed 2 assists in the teams 5-2 win over #3 ranked Eau Claire Stars, 3 goals and 1 assist in their 4-0 win versus Black River Falls and 2 goals and 1 assist in a 6-2 win over Rock County Fury. Horman currently has 38 points (22g, 16a) on the season.

Senior forward Sam Techel of Wausau West (10-2) earned 1 goal and 1 assist in in a shoot out win over Neenah/Hortonville/Menasha, 2 goals (including the game winner) in a 4-3 OT win over Verona, and 3 assists in a 6-2 win over Superior.
