Sierra Berg and CJ Lass earn Week 3 POTW honors

Senior captain Sierra Berg of the Madison Metro Lynx earned player of the week for week three on the girls side.

Head Coach Mike McKersie writes, “Sierra Berg’s accomplishments as a high school player will reach far beyond any statistic. Her success comes from her attitude and effort. She is a tremendous leader that comes to the rink every day positive and upbeat. She lets her work ethic speak through her actions and doesn’t quit. Sierra is the type of unique leader that comes around only once in a while. This last summer, after an off-ice training event, she had climbed into her car when she noticed the last player (a freshman) waiting for ride from their parents. Where many others would have just left, Sierra got back out of her car, went over and sat down with her until the player’s parents arrived. She is the type of player you wish would never graduate because you hate to see them go, but have great pride when they do.”

On the Boys side, junior CJ Lass of the Onalaska Hilltoppers earned week three player of the week. Lass currently averages 2.62 points per game and has 21 points (11g, 10a) on the season.

According to coach Tim Ebner, “CJ Lass has been a fixture on the Varsity hockey team since his freshman year.  He has grown into an excellent player on the ice and an even better person off the ice.  He is the consummate team player. CJ is a quiet leader who leads through his play on the ice.  He plays with endless energy and has the skill sets every team needs.  With CJ’s work ethic, his best hockey is still ahead of him.”
