Sidney Polzin, of Chippewa-Falls Menomonie (CFM) leads the team with 10 points including 8 goals and 2 assists. Sydney scored 4 goals last week in CFM’s only game against the Northland Pines Eagles to boost their team to a 7-3 win over the Eagles.

Polzin also tabbed one goal in CFM’s 4-1 win against the Lakeland Thunderbirds, and one goal and two assists in the 3-2 win over the Superior Spartans.

Coach Tony Menard credits Polzin’s success to her newfound confidence. Menard says since CFM losing such a dynamic player last year [Kaylee Frenette], Polzin has stepped up and filled those shoes. “She’s gotten some big goals for us and I’m looking for that to continue as the schedule gets hard,” said Menard.

Tyler Herzberg of University School-Milwaukee (USM) not only earned Player of the Week honors, but he also leads Wisconsin high school boys hockey in goals (13g) and points with 23 (13g, 10a).

Herzberg got two goals and two assists in USM’s win over DC Everest on November 30. However, what’s more impressive is that just 24 hours later, Herzberg scored four goals in USM’s 5-3 win over #7 Wausau West on December 1st.

Coach Jason Woods writes, “Tyler is an incredible young man who is looked up to in our locker room.  I credit all of his success to the hard work he puts in during the off-season and in season.  Extremely coachable, wants to get better every day and shows that by the work he puts in.  Even in film study, he brings a focus and passion for getting better.  His best attribute on the ice is his willingness to work at an incredible pace.”
