After three straight state tournament appearances and back-to-back state championships, is there pressure on the Raider boys' hockey team heading into the 2018-19 season?
"I think there always is here (in Hudson)," head coach Brooks Lockwood said. "We have a great association and great feeder program. The kids grow up playing the Minnesota competition and it's good for them, so when they play here they're expected to have success."
That success has led to a record of 80-5-2 over the last three seasons, including a 28-1-1 mark last year for the fourth state title in school history. Hudson enters the 2018-19 season ranked No. 1 in the Wisconsin Prep Hockey preseason poll, and while Lockwood said every year's team is different, the ultimate goal remains the same.
"We're preseason one but I'm not sure we're quite there," he noted. "We're certainly one of the top teams in the state so the expectations are to compete for a sectional championship and compete for a state championship. That's pretty much the focus every season."
