Sydney Hendricks leads Hudson with four goals and an assist

Sydney Hendricks racked up four goals and an assist, Mallory Thompson tallied two goals and the Raider defense held Rochester Mayo to just one shot as the Hudson girls' hockey team opened the season with a 7-0 victory Friday night, Nov. 16, at Gornick Arena.

The Raiders opened the season ranked No. 2 in the state in the Wisconsin Prep Hockey poll and looked like a top-ranked team by controlling play from the opening face-off. Hendricks scored the first goal of the game five minutes in when she one-timed a pass across the crease from Quinn Winkoski and fired an off-balance shot into the top of the net. Julia Wareham also earned an assist on the goal.

Dani Robson scored two minutes later with Taylor Wandschneider assisting to give the Raiders a 2-0 lead and Hudson went on to outshoot Rochester Mayo 18-1 in the first period.

The domination continued in the second period as the Raiders fired 21 more shots on goal while stretching the score to 5-0.

Hendricks netted a power play goal at the 9:05 mark, assisted by Nikki Olund and Robson, and Thompson scored unassisted two minutes later. Rochester Mayo was whistled for its fifth penalty of the game at the 11:59 mark and Hendricks made them pay with her third goal of the game, with assists from Winkoski and Olund.
