Janesville star will play in Hockey East conference

Ross Mauermann's home rink has been Janesville Ice Skating Center since he was a mite. Now after youth hockey, high school and being the Janesville Jets all time leading scorer,  Ross is taking his game out of Janesville for good.

Things happened quickly in the last week for Ross, but in the end he signed a national letter of intent to play at Providence College in Rhode Island. Providence, which is a member of the Hockey East Conference, plays a very tough conference schedule which will be a challenge for a Friars team that will play five freshman next season including Mauermann, who is projected to be a third or fourth liner.

Mauermann was a key part of a Janesville Bluebird team that won two Big Eight titles and a State Tournament appearance in 2008. He also garnered two first team All State team honors along with two Player Of The Year awards in the Big Eight Conference.

After high school, Mauermann and the newly formed NAHL Janesville Jets took flight and Mauermann topped out at 100 points after two seasons to be the teams all time leading scorer. As a Jet he was a effective penalty killer, power play quarterback and great scorer. He also made a number of NAHL Top Prospects Showcases.

Mauermann goes to the Friars with a chance to play right away. Knowing Ross, his dedication to the game will get him there.
