Charlie Marshall knew he wanted to be the coach of a hockey team when he graduated from Aquinas High School in 2008.
He knew it would take some time, but he was also comfortable with the fact that he could learn under Tim Franzini, who started coaching the Aquinas co-op program known as the Avalanche when Marshall was a junior.
“I knew I wanted to do it, but I didn’t know when I would get the opportunity,” Marshall said. “When I knew I wasn’t going to move on and play on the next level, I knew I wanted to coach.”
Marshall, 28, was named the new coach of the Avalanche on Friday and is excited for the opportunity that awaits after 10 seasons as an assistant coach for Franzini.
