Juniors lose in regulation, seniors in shootout

Day Three of the Minnesota NIT had both TW boys teams in action.

The TW Juniors matched up with the Michigan seniors and it was Michigan coming out with the 5-3 win. After a scoreless first period Michigan built up a 3-1 lead after 2 periods. Sam Techel scored the lone goal with Bo Bergenthal and Brockton Baker assisting.

Wisconsin got within 3-2 in the third period goal by Andrew Malek. However Michigan scored twice, one an empty netter to put the game out of reach. Brenden Olson scored with nine seconds left for the final 5-3 score. Michigan outshot Wisconsin 30-25.

The TW juniors play Michigan HP18 Sunday in their tournament finale.

The TW seniors played North Dakota and were able to tie it late but lost in a shootout 3-2. North Dakota was leading 2-0 when TW skater Nicholas Johnson scored with an assist to Zach Wilson.

Time was running out late in the game but TW did tie it with over a minute left on a Zach Wilson goal which forced a shootout which TW could not get their first win. TW goalie Michael Janke stopped 22 of 24 and Colin Ahern stopped all 13 shots he faced.
