TW Seniors bow to Michigan in Day 1

The Wisconsin Seniors opening game at the Minnesota NIT was against a Michigan HP18 who in this tournament has historically brought a good squad.

This year was no exception.

Michigan scored their first two goals on four shots and rolled to a 5-1 win Thursday night.

Michigan's Daunte Fortner was responsible for the first two goals that gave them a 2-0 lead after the first period. However TW outshot Michigan 12-6 in the period.

TW began the second with 55 seconds of power play time and scored on their first shot of the period. Carter Hottman was credited with the goal with Hutson Collins and J.J. Berdal getting assists.

Michigan regained their two goal advantage on a second period goal by Ethan Nystrom, and finished the period with a 3-1 lead.

Wisconsin once again had power play time carry over into the next period but didn't convert. Michigan was able to win a mad scramble in front of the TW net and took a 4-1 lead when Gabe Potyk scored.

Wisconsin tried to muster some offense but Michigan was able to keep TW scoreless the rest of the way and got one more goal late from Mitch Morris.

TW goalie Michael Janke finished the game with 22 saves to Michigan's 28 saves.

Pool play continues for the TW Seniors Friday with a matchup with the Minnesota Seniors at 6:45 pm.
