4-3 win over Bears is a rough affair

In a game that had a combined 112 minutes of penalties, the WEHL Team WI squad held off the Hershey Jr. Bears 4-3 Saturday in a Tier II U16 game at USA Nationals.

In a close game where no one had more than a one goal lead, TW got scores from Garrett Wilderman, Cade Tennessen, Sam Vanderhoeven, and Peyton Hart.

Hart's goal gave TW a 4-2 lead with just over two minutes left in the middle period. The Bears got a third period goal with just under five minutes left in the final period to close out the scoring.

All hell broke loose at the end and a combined 82 penalty minutes were assessed after the horn sounded.

Vanderhoeven had two assists for Team WI.

Patrick Kelly stopped 19 shots in the win, as his team held a slim 25-22 shot edge.

WEHL Team WI will play Sunday at 11:00am CT in the quarters against the Highland Park Falcons.
