The U16 Blackcats had seven man-advantage chances in Saturday's game with the Anchorage North Stars but were only able to convert one as they were knocked out of the tourney with a 6-4 loss in the USA Hockey Nationals.
The 'Cats got off to a 2-0 lead with goals by Amber DeLong and Sydney Hahn in the first 25 minutes of play, only to see the North Stars score twice in the next three minutes to tie the game.
Quinn Winkoski scored just 16 seconds later to give the 'Cats the lead, but once again, the North Stars responded with two quick scores to re-take the lead and held a 4-3 edge going into the final period.
An early goal in the third gave the Alaska squad a 5-3 lead, but the 'Cats finally scored on the power play with Mallory Thompson's goal six minutes in.
They would not be able to score again and a late North Stars goal accounted for the 6-4 final.
Bailey Williams had two assists for the Blackcats.
Sydney Seeley had 20 saves for the 'Cats, who outshot the North Stars 40-26.
