Blackcats drop 6-2 decision to Vermont Shamrocks

'Cats can't take advantage of early power play chances

The Blackcats scored on a 5-on-3 power play early in the second period to cut the lead to 2-1, but could not take advantage of four other chances in the early going and lost to the Vermont Shamrocks 6-2 Friday in Day Two USA Hockey Nationals competition in Marlborough, MA.

The Shamrocks had the luck of the Irish all day and scored the next four goals to put the game away. 

Bailey Williams scored on a power play late for the 'Cats to account for the 6-2 final.

Vermont had a 35-21 shot edge, as 'Cats goalie Caitlyn Erickson stopped 29 shots.
