Grow Girls’ Hockey

Learn to Skate / Play Hockey Program Returns April 8

With the recent success of the USA Women’s Hockey team winning the Gold Medal at the Olympics, another FREE program focused on increasing female participation in ice hockey will be held at Onalaska’s Omni Center on Sunday, April 8.

Since this area is known for producing standout players such as former UW Badger Lauren Unser-Meuer, Ohio State Buckeye Jacyn Reeves, U Conn’s Theresa Knutson, Concordia University’s Baylee Darling, Lindenwood’s Chazlyn Anderson. Other local players having a definite impact at the local, state and national level are Maria McHugh, Jaidyn Groshek, Jessica Culp, Kaylee Manglitz, Sascha Cromheecke, Claire Bekkum, Charlotte Kline and Kiya Bronston just to name a few.

In order to continue the growth of girl’s hockey in this area, girls age 4 – 14 will have the opportunity to either lean to skate or learn to play hockey. Two different sessions will be held to allow girls to play or skate together.

  • Learn to Skate will start at 11:00 am and Learn to Play Hockey will start at 1 pm

Free ice skates and hockey equipment will be available for all girls who currently don’t have their own skates or equipment.

All girls, even those currently playing ice hockey are invited to attend. The clinic is open to girls in the following communities: Onalaska, Holmen, Galesville, Ettrick, Trempealeau, La Crosse (including Coulee Catholic), Bangor, and West Salem (including Coulee Christian and Christ St. John’s).

Participants are encouraged to pre-register their daughters at: WWW.BIT.LY/7RIVERSGIRLPOWER. We ask all participants to please arrive a ½ hour before their scheduled session.
