Eau Claire Memorial's Saxton Soley was named the winner of the WHCA/American Family Insurance Player of the Year Wednesday evening at the Player of the Year/State Tournament banquet held at the Sheraton Madison Hotel.
The Old Abe netminder was selected by coaches vote after the original group of nominees was thinned down from 22 players.
The nine finalists were:
