University School of Milwaukee has named Dan Carey as the head coach for its girls’ hockey co-op program, the School announced today. Carey is no stranger to the hockey program at USM, having coached at all levels of the Milwaukee Winter Club program since 2005 and having served on the board of directors since 2008. The USM co-op program also includes Divine Savior Holy Angels, Nicolet, Shorewood, St. Thomas More, and Whitefish Bay.

Carey played Division I college hockey while attending the United States Military Academy at West Point. He has served as an NCAA Division I (Big Ten and Western Collegiate Hockey Association) and Division III (Northern Collegiate Hockey Association) on-ice official for 21 seasons.

“I am excited for the opportunity to coach the USM girls’ co-op team,” he said. “It has a strong reputation and I look forward to helping these student athletes build on that tradition.”

“We are pleased to have Dan Carey as our next girls’ hockey co-op head coach,” said Director of Athletic Luke Houdek. “Dan brings a wide range of hockey experience to the position and we are confident that he can lead our program moving forward. Dan will transition into this role well as he is already a USM community member and has been a part of Milwaukee Winter Club for the past decade.”
