Junior earns Fiskis Award from America's Showcase

Post-season honors keep piling up for Viroqua High School hockey goaltender Ivy Shonka.

Following an outstanding junior season as goaltender for the Blackhawks, which included a .933 save percentage with 588 saves against 630 shots on goal, Shonka was selected as the first-team goaltender by Badger Conference coaches.

In early April, Shonka led the Wisconsin Selects U-16 girl’s hockey team to a third-place finish at the National USA U-16 tournament in Lansing, Michigan. In the final two games, Shonka stopped 45 of 46 shots (.978 save percent) in a 2-1 overtime win over a team from Concord, Maine. This sent the Selects into the semifinals versus the Vermont Shamrocks. Shonka and the Selects came up on the short end of a 2-0 score to the Shamrocks, with Ivy recording 34 saves against 36 shots.
