Robbie Poirier scored two goals and added an assist as Wausau West defeated Madison Edgewood 4-1 Saturday evening at the Madison Ice Arena.
West coach Pete Susens earned his 513th career win, surpassing former Madison Memorial coach Vic Levine for most wins in Wisconsin high school history.
"It's more like relief than anything else," said Susens. "Now we can focus on the task at hand, which is to win our next game."
Levine was in attendance and caught up with Susens after the game.
"He said 'congrats, you old fart,'" laughed Susens. "I told him it takes one to know one."
Madison Ice Arena, ironically, was the site of many of Levine's 512 wins.
