The Black Cats advanced to the semifinal round with a 5-2 victory bright and early Sunday morning in Troy, MI.

The 'Cats got two goals in a span of 85 seconds early in the second to take a 2-1 lead. Bailey Williams and Quinn Winkoski (short-handed) scored to give the Black Cats a one-goal lead. That's what the scoreboard showed until early in the third, when Rachel Corbett scored on a power play to give the Edge the tie at two apiece.

The rest of the game belonged to the western Wisconsin squad.

Lillian Accola scored four minutes in for the game-winner, and then Nikki Olund and Winkoski added empty-netters in the closing moments to give the 'Cats the 5-2 win.

The refs were stingy in handing out assists, as the 'Cats only had four in the game. Hailey Schumacher, Amber DeLong, Sydney Hahn, and Winkoski were credited with helpers for the Black Cats.

Shots totals were not listed at press time, but the stats show Sydney Seeley with 16 saves for the Black Cats.

The 'Cats will play this afternoon at 3:00pm CT against Kensington Valley.
