When Brian Campbell took over as head coach of the McFarland High School hockey team, he vowed to give all players a chance to play and insisted the team would improve.
After starting out with a record of 5-16 in 2013-14, Campbell guided the Spartans to 10 or more victories in the next three seasons.
His coaching career was temporarily sidetracked by a near fatal heart attack in February 2015, but he was able to mold his talent into a respectable unit that would no longer become a pushover in the Badger Conference.
Yet, his health started to have more of an impact on him in the 2016-17 season, and he knew it was time to bring his coaching career to an end.
