The St. Mary's Springs hockey team beat Waupun, 6-1, Thursday to clinch at least a share of the Badgerland division title at the Blue Line Family Ice Center.

Matt Austin gave the Ledgers a 1-0 lead after one period, but Waupun out-shot Springs. But, Benton Deanovich went the length of the ice before finishing past Waupun's goalie less than a minute into the second period, and the Ledgers (15-3, 8-0) took firm control of the game.

"That did get us fired up, and we managed to pop two more in (in the second period)," Springs coach Ty Steffes said.

Eric Steffes scored twice after that with J.P. Voight and Jacob Schultz rounding out the scoring.

Parker Deanovich stopped 18 shots in goal. Bryce Smit scoredthe Warriors' lone goal.

"Parker Deanovich was just solid all the way through, especially in the first period. We were out-shot, and he held us in it," Coach Steffes said. "He was the rock we were leaning on."
