Hockey Against Hunger Raises Over $13,000

WAUSAU, WI (January 27, 2011) High school hockey teams from across the state of Wisconsin combined their efforts this season to raise funds for The Salvation Army in the “Hockey Against Hunger” campaign and collected $13,600 in monetary and food donations. DC Everest, Mosinee, Wausau East, Wausau West, Waukesha Catholic Memorial Pius, Oregon and Madison Edgewood boys hockey teams and the Central Wisconsin Storm girls team began the fundraiser in November and it ran through December 24th.

Events for the fundraiser included team bell ringing, t-shirt sales, food drives, prize raffles, 50/50 raffles and an online red kettle donation competition among all teams for bragging rights.

All teams plan to continue the Hockey Against Hunger fundraiser again next season and would like to expand to have all Wisconsin high school hockey teams participating from across the state.

The Hockey Against Hunger campaign has raised over $31,000 for The Salvation Army since it’s inception three years ago.
