Waukesha forward's hat trick ends Beloit's playoff run

Waukesha used a natural hat trick from Trenton Tucker, and four assists from Ian Malcolmson to punch their second straight ticket to the State tournament with a 4-0 blanking of Beloit Saturday afternoon in Janesville.

Waukesha will move on to play Classic eight rival Arrowhead Thursday in a State Quarterfinal game in Madison.

In the first period the Wings, who beat Beloit early in the season, found themselves having to kill off a major penalty. They were able to get out of the zone and Ian Malcolmson was able to get a shot off. The rebound came out where Tucker was able to clean up and the Wings had a 1-0 lead after the first period.

Waukesha came out in the second period and were able four minutes in to get an even strength goal from Tucker, with Malcolmson and Thomas Knoke assisting for a 2-0 lead.

Tucker finished off the natural hat trick when he scored near the halfway point of the game with assists from Malcolmson and Wyatt Wilderman on the power play giving Waukesha some breathing room leading 3-0 after 2 periods.

While the shots were 11-9 Waukesha after the first period, the second period saw Beloit able to only get 3 shots, while the Wings got 9.

Waukesha controlled the third period and scored their final goal with Kevin Broda on the power play one minute twenty five seconds into the period for the final 4-0 margin. Shots were heavily in favor of the Wings in the period outshooting Beloit 16-3.

In the game Beloit goalie Taven Santucci finished with 32 saves while in the shutout Wings goalie Garrett Larsen stopped 15 pucks.

Waukesha improves their record to 21-3 on the season, while Beloit who came on in the playoffs finished with a 15-12-3.
