Overtime should have been a productive power play for the Tomah High School boys hockey team.
Instead, it resulted in a painful defeat.
La Crescent’s Mason Holzer scored a shorthanded goal halfway through the sudden-death overtime period to lift the Lancers to a 2-1 victory over Tomah Thursday in a nonconference game at Tomah Ice Arena.
The Timberwolves fell to 5-3 overall and lost a chance to match last year’s victory total.
La Crescent improved to 5-3.
