DC Everest Holiday Tournament

It was all Fond du Lac Springs in the first game of the consolation bracket at the DC Everest Holiday Tournament Tuesday.  The Ledgers launched a barrage of shots on their way to a 9-1 win over the Tomahawk Hatchets.

The Ledgers didn’t take long to start their shock and awe campaign in the first period when Mike Mathweg fired in the game’s first goal from the middle of the slot just 1:44 into the first period.

The Ledgers tallied their second goal five minutes later, when Eric Steffes buried one from the point.  Brenden and Sean Ahern each got into the act in the first period as well, with Sean’s goal coming with just 2 seconds left on the clock.

The Ledgers made it 5-0 with 5:25 left in the second period, before Tomahawk got in the board.  Tomahawk’s Austin Kammer put the Hatchets on the board with a nifty short handed goal with 2:24 left in the second period.

It wasn’t enough to spark a rally though and the Ledgers rolled to a 9-1 victory.  The Ledgers outshot Tomahawk 48-26, and Parker Deanovich picked up the victory.

The Ledgers will advance to the consolation championship against the winner of Lakeland vs. Chequamegon/Phillips. The Hatchets will face the loser in the 7th place game.
