Western Wisconsin Stars and Rock County Fury Advance to Championship

Western Wisconsin Defeat Waupaca

The Western Wisconsin Stars opened the Black River Falls Invitational against Waupaca.  The Stars opened the scoring on a goal by Brie Larkowski assisted by Kayla Huerta and Mykenzie Patten at 4:58 of the first period.  Grace Klein assisted on Allie Stock's goal at 6:39 to give Western Wisconsin a 2-0 lead at the 6:39 mark.  Waupaca's Kendell Sheldon scored with 4:03 remaining in the first with Jamie Slattery assisting making it a 2-1 game.  Cassie Gravelle bumped the lead back to 2 with an unassisted goal at 14:24 of the first period.

The second period saw Brie Larkowski open the scoring at 5:07 of the period giving the Stars a 4-1 lead.  The lead increased to 4 on a goal by Jade Williams with Josie Carlson assisting with 8:41 remaining in the second.  Cassie Gravelle collected her second goal with an assist from Bailey Williams at 9:52 of the second period.  The Stars completed the scoring for the game with 2:39 remaining in the second period, when Kayla Huerta scored with an assist from Allie Stock.

Fury hold on for victory over Tigers

The Fury scored 12 seconds into the game as Mya Maslonka scored an unassisted goal giving Rock County the lead.  Black River Falls tied the game at the 4:55 mark on a goal by Kaytlin Johnson with Jade Potter and Baileigh Johnson assisting.

Zoie Steig put the Fury back into the lead with Maggy Henschler and Ally Burke assisting at 2:58 of the second.  The Fury led 2-1 at the end of 2.

Rock County increased the lead to two as Danielle Heitsman converted a power play opportunity with the assistance of Maggy Henschler and Jessica Jerome at 12:24 of the third.  Black River Falls' Khloe Spors cut the lead to 1 with an unassisted goal thirty-five seconds later, but the Tigers couldn't score again as the Fury won 3-2.
