Waunakee got back on the winning track Tuesday night with a hard fought 5-4 Badger North Conference victory over the visiting Eagles from Sauk Prairie.

Senior Jay Croop lit the lamp at the 10:46 mark of the first period to open the scoring before the Eagles tied it up before the end of the first stanza. Sauk went ahead 2-1 before Warrior point leader Jason Ford hit the back of the net to make it 2-2.  Both teams would score again before going into the final period knotted up at three apiece. Junior Austin Braska teamed up with senior Kraymer Smith for Waunakee's third goal.

The final period had a distincitve 'hop' to it as Waunakee broke the tie on senior Eric Behrend's power play goal just 71 seconds into the third. And while Sauk tied it up midway through the period, it was Jason Ford capitalizing on a Sauk penalty to hit the game winner with 5:06 left.

Waunakee's junior goaltender, Mitch Horras would make several key saves down the stretch, and kept Sauk off the board. Horras turned away 30 Eagle shots to earn the victory, his 4th of the season.

The Warriors travel to the Madison Ice Arena on Saturday (12/18) to face Madison Edgewood before coming back to the Ice Pond to host McFarland on Tuesday (12/21).
