Some people like to say that second place is the first loser. Well so far in this young prep hockey season, that is proving to be the case. USM opened the season at #2 on the Wisconsin Prep Hockey Top Ten poll and was promptly bounced down to 8th, and now to Honorable Mention.
Superior slid into the second spot on USM's departure and promptly took a 5-2 loss to Eau Claire Memorial in our Game of the Week. Now it is Eau Claire Memorial's turn to take the #2 ranking.
Around the rest of the state, Wausau West retained the top spot with three wins this week to open their season including wins against Honorable Mention Catholic Memorial/Pius XI and #8 University School.
Ashwaubenon and Oregon jumped into the Top Ten for the first time on the young season thanks to their combined 7-0 mark through two weeks. Both teams face big tests this week as Ashwaubenon takes on #6 Waupaca and Oregon faces #3 Stoughton in our Game of the Week and #10 Madison Edgewood.
Our Game of the Week this week pits #3 Stoughton against #9 Oregon.
