PUCK DROPS TONIGHT ON 2010-2011 SEASON

The 2010-2011 hockey season begins tonight for the WIAA defending champions USM Wildcats as they host the 5th Annual Paul Meyer Memorial Tournament.  Expanded this year to a field of eight teams, this tournament is dedicated to the memory of Paul Meyer, his love for his family; his love of hockey, and his family’s deep gratitude for the continued support of the whole USM hockey family.

Gate Prices: $4.00 an Adult; $2.00 a Student

1st Team listed will wear their Lights & be the Home Team. The 2nd team listed will wear their Darks and be the Visiting Team. National Anthem will be sung prior to the 1st game of each set except for the Championship Game.

All games will be play under NFHS rules with WIAA adaptations. Each game will have a 10 minute warm-up and three 17 minute periods. If a game ends in a tie, there will be an 8 minute sudden death overtime period in which the teams will play 5 vs 5. If the game is still tied, there will be a 3 man alternating shoot-out. A flip of the coin will determine who goes first. If it is still tied, there will be a 1 man alternating shootout until we have a winner. Under WIAA rules, if the game is tied after the 8 minute overtime, it is officially listed as a tie.

The teams for the 1st game of each set will warm-up at the time stated and then play their 1st period. The teams for the 2nd games will warm-up on the 3rd period ice of the previous game, resurface, and then play their 1st period.
