Oh Joy! Bliss named Player of the Year

Appleton United forward wins American Family Insurance honor

Appleton United forward Trenton Bliss was named the 2016 American Family Insurance Player of the Year at the State Tournament/Player of the Year banquet held at Exhibition Hall Wednesday evening.

Bliss has scored 56 points (28g-28a) thus far for AU, who will take on University School in the second game on Quarterfinal Thursday.

American Family's Jon Elvy presented the award.

The other finalists were:

  • Davis Bunz, Middleton
  • Tyler Ebner, Onalaska
  • Tommy Mohs, Madison Edgewood
  • Alex Nagel, Antigo
  • Blake Ripley, Waunakee
  • Dylan Ross, Eau Claire Memorial
  • Jacob Thousand, Waunakee

The eight tournament teams were also feted during the banquet, with the team portion being sponsored by Portesi Pizza and Tim & Rose Ahern.

State Academic Champion: Eau Claire Memorial

George Baumann Friends of Hockey: Luke Strand

Bob Johnson Coach of the Year: Mike Elkin & Jeff Lindemann, Neenah/Hortonville/Menasha

 


Trenton Bliss, 2016 AFI Player of the Year
