Reichenbacher and Mohs shine in win

The Madison Edgewood Crusaders and the Waunakee Warriors met Tuesday night at LaBahn Arena with the winner going to the Sectional Final in Sun Prairie this coming Saturday.

Edgewood was able to get on the board first on a goal by Jack Royer as he snapped off a shot from the left circle beating Jacques Semandel for the early 1-0 lead.  With just over 10 minutes left in the first period, Waunakee was able to tie the game on the power play.  Parker Elvy scored on a one timer from the left circle to tie it.  Edgewood regained the lead with just under 7 minutes to go in the 1st, when Grant Reichenbacher scored on the rush.  He was able to get around the defensemen and scored short side.

Reichenbacher would strike again just over one minute later when he scored a shorthanded goal top shelf for a 3-1 Edgewood lead after one period.

The Crusaders came out and took a 4-1 lead 13 seconds into the second period.  Vincent Weis scored on a shot from the right low circle.  Waunakee got back into the game on the power play when Blake Ripley scored from the slot hitting the crossbar and going into the net.  Edgewood got their 3 goal lead back late in the period.  Nick Tancill scored on a shot from the left circle for a 5-2 lead after two periods.

Waunakee used an early 3rd period power play to get back into the game.  Zane Marshman scored on a tic tac toe play to make it 5-3.  Both teams had chances in the 3rd period, but Edgewood put the game away for good with 1:32 left.  Blake Richter scored unassisted on a breakaway, for the final 6-3 score.

Edgewood Goalie Tommy Mohs stopped 29 of 32 shots.  Waunakee Goalie Jacques Semandel ended with 32 saves.  Edgewood moves on to play Middleton on Saturday for the right to go to State in the Sectional Final game at Sun Prairie.
