University School Milwaukee and Homestead came together in the ‘Coaches vs. Cancer’ game at 6pm on Wednesday night at Ozaukee Ice Arena to benefit ‘Relay for Life.’ It is a great cause for survivors (Homestead coach) Tony Navarre and former USM coach Cal Roadhouse.

Levi Geisness sent a pass to Jake Kandel, who sent a shot over the goalie’s right shoulder to give USM a 1-0 lead with just under seven minutes remaining in the first period. Tommy Ferrara also earned an assist on the play.

Nick Epperson received a pass from Jerzey Judge and brought the puck down the left side. He was able to shoot it from the top of the circle, through the five hole, and into the net to give the guests a 2-0 advantage with just under a minute left. Logan Geisness received an assist on the play.

The period ended with both teams tallying six shots.

Logan Geisness dished a pass to Epperson near the left circle. Epperson was able to get the shot off and beat the goalie high to earn his second goal of the night and give USM a three goal lead with just over five minutes remaining in the second period. Brandon McGill was given an assist as well.

USM had two penalties in the period but Homestead was unable to convert on the opportunities.

Shots for the period were 11-8, in favor of the Wildcats.

Joey Wallskog grabbed a pass from Billy Miller who was below the goal line. Wallskog was able to convert on the pass from the slot to give the Wildcats a 4-0 lead early in the third period. Charlie Mahoney also earned a helper on the play.

Logan Geisness received a pass from McGill and took a shot that went wide and to the left of Homestead goalie Connor McPike. Ferrara was able to pick up the puck near the boards on the right side and shoot it in before McPike could get back to position to give USM a five goal lead with just over three minutes remaining in the game.

McGill earned USM's final goal off of passes from Logan Geisness and Kandel.

McGill was able to get a shot off from the slot to give him the goal with just four seconds remaining in the game. The guest’s final goal would give them the 6-0 win.
