Janesville Gets Past Bulldogs

  The Janesville Bluebirds and Cedarburg Bulldogs got together for a non conference clash in Janesville. Last year when they met Cedarburg beat Janesville by a 1-0 shutout turned in by Bulldog goalie Matt McCoy. Still both teams made it to the State Tournament where both teams were beaten by eventual State Champ Superior.

​   Janesville used overall speed and timely saves by goalie Jack Bostedt for a 4-2 win in the rematch.

   Both goalies started out great in the first period by holding their opponent scoreless. Shots were 8-6 Janesville.

​   The second period saw both teams combining for 5 goals. Janesville scored first by a shot from Cullen Schmacher, who got off a shot on the back side low on the ice  and got past McCoy for a 1-0 lead. The Bluebirds scored just a few minutes later when Ty Perkins was able to get a wrist shot from the slot.

​   Cedarburg was able to get on the board when both teams  had a man in the box. It was James Furey who scored on a rebound. Janesville made it 3-1 with a goal from defenseman Ben Vogt on a shot from the right circle. But almost two minutes lter Cedarburg on a power play got the puck to Furey in their own zone from McCoy and carried it down ice and beat Bostedt high for a 3-2 deficit after two periods.

​   The Bulldogs had a chance to tie it on 5 on 3 power play for two minutes.early in the third period. The Bulldogs spent time in the Janesville zone but were denied on each shot by Jack Bostedt who made his best stops of the night. After the penalties expired just over a minute later Janesville got their final goal by Ben Coulter. The Bulldogs could get no closer as Janesville had a 4-2 win. Matt McCoy finished with 26 saves while Jack Bostedt had 18 saves.
