TW U18 training camp notes, scoring re-cap

Update: Team Wisconsin won all three games during the weekend...

With Labor Day weekend sneaking up on us, it marks the unofficial end of summer. In Wisconsin, it also marks the beginning of the pre/post hockey season.

Team Wisconsin U18s are preparing for the campaign by participating in a "training camp" at Ice Hawks Arena in Stevens Point. Three other squads are taking part--Minnesota Blades, Duluth Wings, and the Milwaukee Jr. Admirals.

In action on Saturday morning, TW hung on to edge Duluth 4-3.

GAME ONE (4-3 win over Duluth)

1st

Garrett Clemment (Paul Byrne, Tim Davison), 3:13 (pp)
Alex Dahl (Cody Dixon, Simon Leahy), 6:06

3rd

Hoth (Janssen, Byrne), 11:40 (pp)

Saves: Saxton Soley, 15 of 18

Team Wisconsin managed an early 2-0 lead behind goals from Clemment and Dahl, but then allowed three consecutive goals by Duluth in a span of just over two minutes.

Dau and Hoth scored in the third and TW held on for the win. TW outshot Duluth 46-18 in the contest.

Notes: D Ron Lindgren is injured and will miss 3-4 weeks of action, so TW is playing one defenseman short...The forwards are "flying," according to team officials...TW will play one more game this evening and one tomorrow (times unknown at this point).

The Admirals scored about six minutes into the third to cut the lead to 2-1, but Navin sealed the deal just over four minutes later to account for the 3-1 final.
