Thunder starts the year 3-0

The Kenosha Thunder started their 2015-16 Boys Hockey season on fire by inning the Sheboygan Kyle J. Neurohr Memorial Holiday hockey tournament title and beginning 3-0 for the season.

Kenosha began the tournament against Waupun with both teams having this game be the season opener.  The first game began even for the first period when Kenosha’s Cam Kroncke opened up the scoring with :48 left in the first.  Kenosha never looked backed and kept the pressure on Waupun scoring again 29 seconds later.  The Thunder won the opening game with a final score of 5-0 starting the season with a shut-out win.

Kenosha continued its hot streak in the semi-final by beating Brookfield/Catholic Memorial in the semi-final game.  Brookfield had won their opening game of the tournament by beating Stevens Point Pacelli 2-0.  Kenosha again came out hot and scored first against Brookfield.  Once again they continued to pressure Brookfield and secured a 7-5 semi-final win over Brookfield advancing to the finals.

In the finals, Kenosha faced a very scrappy Fox Cities Stars team.  Fox Cities earned its way into the finals by winning their opening game against Ashwaubenon with the same opening score as Kenosha 5-0.  Fox Cities then faced off against Grafton in their Semi-final game and was able to advance with a 5-2 win.  Kenosha began the final game once again scoring first and second goals and continuing to keep pressure on the opposing teams.  Fox Cities was able to battle back but in the end Kenosha came out victorious with a 3-2 win and bringing home the Championship trophy.

Kenosha kept all of their opponents at bay by out shooting them the entire tournament.  In the first game, the Thunder out shot Waupun 43 - 18, out shot Brookfield 48 - 22, and continued their assault on the goalies by out shooting Fox Cities 43 - 20.  It is apparent Kenosha will look to continue attacking opponents the entire season.
