Newly formed team to be called RAM Boys High School Hockey team

EAU CLAIRE, Wisc. – High school hockey fans will get to watch a newly expanded co-op team this coming season.

Regis High School, Altoona High School and McDonell High School have combined forces to create the RAM Boys High School Hockey team. This new co-op team will expand playing opportunities for high school athletes, as it will allow coaches to field a Junior Varsity team. Without the co-op, none of the three schools were able to schedule a JV season.

Kent Hamre has been named as the new Head Coach of the RAM Boys High School Hockey team. He played high school hockey in Roseville, Minnesota and went on to play college hockey for St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota.  He has been coaching hockey at the youth, high school and college levels since 1998.

Skylar Christofferson will be Coach Hamre's Assistant.  He has coached youth and high school hockey since 2011, after a playing career that included the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL), the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL), the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) at UW-River Falls and UW-Eau Claire and the Federal Hockey League (FHL), where he played professionally for the Broome County/Cape Cod Barons.

Additional coaches are being interviewed and will be added to the staff. The team is also working to create a new logo, which will be distributed when available.

The coaches are excited about this new opportunity and are looking forward to building the hockey program
